Team News | Forfar have some injury doubts ahead of tomorrow's Bells Challenge Cup tie with Elgin. Keeper, Michael Brown, is suspended after being sent off in last season's debacle against Queens Park. Ray Stewart told Loons Mad, "The suspension has made my decision for me. Both Michael and Neal Ferrie have shown up well in the pre-season games." Elsewhere in the lineup Simon Vella is a doubt and Kevin Byers an almost definite non-starter due to his hamstring injury. Stewart has been relatively encouraged by the sequence of pre-season friendlies. "I was happy with most of the games in terms of the attitude and commitment of the players. It's up to them to take that commitment into the campaign proper now." While he keeps his cards close to his chest Stewart says he is pretty clear in his own mind what his first choice lineup will be. "Of course injuries and suspensions suddenly change all that. Football can suddenly turn round and bite you like that. But I've made clear to the players that the jerseys will go to the players who show most commitment." |
Other News | Forfar will hope to kickstart their season by progressing to the Bell's Cup 2nd Round, at the expense of Elgin City. Ray Stewart's eight new signings will look to make an impression on their competitive debuts.
Elgin City may have struggled since joining the SFL, but the Highland outfit will be no pushovers. Ex-Rangers star David Robertson is at the helm of the Borough Briggs outfit and has made his mark with a rush of new signings. Alex Bone will be one to watch out for, however Craig Tully will not return to Station Park as he has signed for Stenhousemuir.
Should Forfar progress, they will contest the Bell's Cup 2nd Round on August 12th. |
